Introduction to Geocortex® and ArcIMS ® *

Web-based maps have many similarities to traditional paper maps, with some important differences. Instead of just looking at the map, you can explore vast amounts of information for a geographic area far-out or close-up, and learn more about specific features, and (most importantly) get answers to your questions.

In about five minutes, this tutorial will provide you with the knowledge you need to successfully work with Geocortex-based web maps; even if you have no prior knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

You can then start exploring a Geocortex web-based mapping application that interests you, or spend a few more minutes learning about some of the more advanced tools at your fingertips that can help you easily get answers to some surprisingly sophisticated questions of a geographic nature.

First, we'll cover two simple 'GIS concepts' you need to know for all this to make sense. Then we'll introduce you to the tools that you'll use to navigate around the map and ask it questions.
